Art Basel 2019
Art Basel 2019 opens to the public on Thursday, June 13, with two preview days, on June 11 and 12. Some 290 galleries from 34 countries will show work at the Swiss fair, which runs through June 16. Among the artists in the exhibition are Kerry James Marshall at David Zwirner (of New York, London, and Hong Kong), Tomás Saraceno at Tanya Bonakdar (New York and Los Angeles), and Farah Al Qasimi at the Third Line (Dubai).
Before you hit the halls, browse the show’s Online Catalog. Select artworks, artists, and galleries, or follow the lead of Professor Chus Martínez, Collector Valeria Napoleone, and Curator Stefanie Hessler, who have already picked their highlights. Make sure to download the Art Basel Mobile App (for iOS and Android) to enjoy the best digital experience.
Experience the incredible variety of Modern and contemporary art on view in the show’s five main sectors: Galleries, Unlimited, Feature, Statements, and Parcours, which takes place in Basel’s Old Town. Consult our floorplan to find out where your favorites will be located, and dive into Art Basel Stories for a more in-depth look at the show’s protagonists and highlights.
Make sure to attend the Conversations program, where major figures such as artist Coco Fusco, gallerist Andrée Sfeir-Semler, architect Jacques Herzog, theorist Benjamin H. Bratton, and many more will discuss the issues that have been shaping contemporary culture. Not to miss is Art Basel Conversations’s first sonic lecture, led by the Johannesburg-based collective Keleketla!Library. Entry to the Conversations program is free of charge.
