Editorial: Metropolitan Museum of Art New York

Place: New York, 2020

Gerhard Richter: Painting After All is a compilation of the most outstanding works of the German artist that also includes a series of essays. Surrounded by Nazi Germany and the subsequent bombings of the city of Dresden, Gerhard Richter began his artistic career in a troubled environment that prompted him to produce some of the most perturbing paintings of our time. Result of the recent exhibition that took place at the MET in New York, this catalog is an extensive review of the most persistent interests of the German artist. For The New York Times, “This beautiful farewell, with 60 years of work, affirms the artistic and moral force of [the] irresolution and skepticism [of Gerhard Richter].”

Editorial: Royal Academy of Arts

Place: London, United Kingdom 2019

Félix Vallotton is one of the most outstanding impressionists in history. His work explores color and shape in ways little seen before. But his artistic interests were not only focused on painting: Vallatton was also an engraver and writer of novels and plays. This book is a compilation of his best woodcut and pictorial works. At the beginning of 2020, The Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York (MET) offered an exhibition with 86 works that reflect the technical value of the artist born in Lausanne in 1865 and disappeared in Neuilly-sur-Seine in 1925. In the words of Samuel Reilly in The Economist, “his paintings often communicate – through a cunning look or a distance from the viewer – that sense of mystery and drama that gives Vallotton’s work a unique quality.”

Title: Ernst Ludwig Kirchner

Author and Contributors: por Jill LloydJanis StaggsRonald S LauderRenee Price y Nelson Blitz .

Editorial: Prestel Publishing

 Place: Munich, Germany 2019

262 pp.

If we talk about German expressionism, we must put Ernst Ludwig Kirchner in a privileged place. Born in Aschaffenburg, Germany, in 1880 and disappeared in Frauenkirch, Switzerland, in 1938, Kirchner combined his interests in color with themes that concerned him in society: his paintings included the streets of Berlin, prostitutes or dancers. This book is the result of the exhibition that took place at the Neue Galerie in New York. It is a tour of the main works of the author in disciplines such as engraving, painting, photography, decorative works and drawings. Ernst Ludwig Kirchner was edited by Jill Lloyd, art historian and writer of contemporary artists, and Janis Staggs, curatorial director and publications manager at Neue Galerie New York.
